A Curtained Aisle to the Wedding Altar

What a dramatic entrance to walk through these sheer gauzy curtains on your way to the aisle! It reminds me of the lobby of the posh Delano Hotel in Miami. I went there for dinner last summer.

So many of the ideas I have for our wedding seem to incorporate that same theme, white chiffon!

I definitely have to consider how to pull this off in real life...

Ribbon altar

I keep seeing ribbons hanging from trees on wedding sites and am really drawn to it. See bottom left above.

At first I couldn't quite conceive of how I would incorporate them with all the other ideas I have, but now I'm thinking I could use them to tie the cloth on this altar we're planning, and just leave very long trailing ends of the ribbon flowing.

As for the horses and hay stacks above, we may be getting married in Texas, but we won't be going that far!

Floating balloon canopy

I just came across this balloon canopy on Cup of Jo. It was originally created by Gustafson Porter as an installation for the Venice Architectural Biennale. However, I think it'll be perfect in my sister's yard! Perhaps as a canopy over the dining tables?

We might add a little invisible fishing line to hold it down though (just in case!)

I think this is that wow thing we've been looking for!

The balloon canopy turned out beautifully! I've added a photo below. Still waiting on the others from the photographer.

It definitely took a practice session to figure it out. We had to get a lighter weight fabric (organza), bigger 17" balloons and something called Hi-Float to make it work. But it did! It was the big grand entrance at the end of the luminary-lined driveway!

A little inspiration

I love this wedding photo from the New York Times. Very inspiring.

Ironically, both the bride and groom are "dodgeball athletes" according to the article. Learn more about the ceremony here.

I'd like to try and incorporate the floating candles in the vases into our wedding, probably on the tables though. And I'd like to somehow replicate this altar as well. In white more likely. A cross between the one above and this one linked here.
