Wedding Hair Comb

Just bought this hair comb for our wedding.

I'm hoping it comes by Friday so my mom and I can make my birdcage veil when she's here next weekend. She's bringing the french lace.

Rhinestone Hair Comb and French Lace

Mom's coming to visit soon, and we'll spend the weekend doing lots of crafty wedding things, including making my birdcage veil!

She's ordered the french lace, and I've been looking at veils to get some ideas for exactly how I want mine. See these I posted about previously.

I particularly love how the rhinestone hair combs look with the birdcage veils. I've been thinking about them since seeing this post here. I tried on some veils recently, and the perfect ones combined the rhinestone combs with the french lace -- with the lace covering the lace and hitting just above the chin. And the veil anchored by the comb on the side by the ear! This spray of rhinestones on the comb above is perfect.

Can't wait to make mine!

A new take on the birdcage veil

Maybe not new, but definitely different from what I've been looking at. I love the clip in the center.

Feather Ban-do's

Does anyone out there know where I can get feathers like these (but in white) for a diy hair pin? I'll be adding in a rhinestone/pearl pin and probably some type of netting to create a birdcage veil.

I actually haven't had any luck finding the netting either.

Rosettes and flower accents of all sorts

I love the variety of flower accents I've seen on dresses. I plan to add some sort of sash with flower embellishments that I create myself to my dress*.

Something like the flower(s) on the dresses shown here.



In fact, I just read something that suggested having a few different accent pieces that you change throughout the wedding for a few different looks. That definitely helps those of us who are indecisive! I'm thinking I might go with that in terms of the birdcage veil. Wear it during the ceremony, but go with a pin or a double strand pearl headband after.

***For those of you who caught that, yes, that's right, I bought my dress! Or mom bought me my dress to be more precise. I'll be adding a lace jacket and a flower sash, but here it is in all it's glory!)

I might even make my own if I can get the right lace. Does anyone know where i can get high end lace like this (not tulle).

Or if I really want to go retro, there's always this version of the pillbox birdcage veil...Not sure if that's me though.


I'm absolutely open to suggestions if you guys want to post links in the comments to other veils I should consider. I do think I want to stay with this overall style however.

I think this last one is super stylish but I just worry I'd feel like i had a weird little circle on my head...
