Deconstructed Pearl Necklace

Love this pearl necklace featured on Snippet & Ink.

The bride actually purchased a strand of pearls from Target, but then took them apart and restrung them with silver pearls and crystals added in.

Striped Bouquet Ribbon

I may have mentioned I'll be doing our bouquets for the wedding. I'm particularly taken with the striped ribbon shown on this bouquet here. Not sure if it'll go with my dress however.

If I decide to do the stripes, I'd probably do yellow and white or gray and white.

I think I'll see how they look together once I actually have my dress in hand and I can see the ribbon alongside the dress...

Giveaway buttons

This great art reminds me that I wanted to do a variety of buttons as giveaways. I just have so many things I want to do as giveaways, so I have to either narrow down the list or find a way to bring them all together in one little pack.

Shadow Photo Booth

I love the idea of a photo booth or station at a wedding (Not an actual photo booth, though that would be even color!) I'll be posting more about options for a photo station soon.

However, this idea of a shadow photo booth is so fresh. All we'd need would be an extra flexi lamp. I sure we could arrange it.

"Succulent" Wedding Favors

Little plants are such a romantic, clever give-away for a wedding.

This succulent shown above is adorable. Great packaging!

Walking Down the Aisle

Who says the petals have to line the aisle? We could get crazy and do a fun petal design like this one. Something for me to ponder...

Houston Hotel Options

For those of you who will be traveling to Houston for the wedding and needing a hotel, I've listed a few options below...

Hotel ZaZa
If you want to make the most of your time in Houston and be near the Museum District and downtown, Hotel ZaZa is our recommended option. Alex and I will be staying here after the wedding. Please note that Houston is very spread out and the wedding location is closer to the next hotel listed below. Expect about 30 minutes of travel time from Hotel ZaZa to the wedding. Rates start at $180/night.

Hilton Garden Inn
Houston Northwest (Willow Chase)

The wedding will be held in the Champions neighborhood on the North side of Houston off of 1960. If you're looking for a value and want to be 5-10 minutes from the wedding site, then this hotel is the best option. Rates begin at $85/night.

UPDATE: This second hotel option seems to have gone up in price, so we're arranging a third more budget-friendly option. Please contact us for more info. We'll post as soon as it's finalized.

Rental cars are definitely recommended.

Wedding Get-Away!

Alex just booked us a convertible as our wedding get-away car.

Don't think I've ever driven a convertible, so we'll get to have some fun playing with the roof mechanism that makes it go up and down! Ha!

And we'll definitely have to figure out our Just Married decorations! We'll be rattling all the way down I-45 with tin cans tied to the bumper...

Rhinestone Hair Comb and French Lace

Mom's coming to visit soon, and we'll spend the weekend doing lots of crafty wedding things, including making my birdcage veil!

She's ordered the french lace, and I've been looking at veils to get some ideas for exactly how I want mine. See these I posted about previously.

I particularly love how the rhinestone hair combs look with the birdcage veils. I've been thinking about them since seeing this post here. I tried on some veils recently, and the perfect ones combined the rhinestone combs with the french lace -- with the lace covering the lace and hitting just above the chin. And the veil anchored by the comb on the side by the ear! This spray of rhinestones on the comb above is perfect.

Can't wait to make mine!

Comb above available from Cassandra Lynne Studios and her online Ebay shop.

126 Days Until...

Alex has this great app on his iphone. How many days until. Lately, he's been using it for his elaborate bachelor party in Vegas which is just a few weeks away.

And a friend overseas is about to get married and is counting down too. But her wedding is only 6 days away.

So i ran the wedding through the app. Only 126 days! 4 months. Lots left to do still.

There's a web version of this app too, here.

Sugared lemon handbags

Have been looking for handbags and these are wonderful, particularly for my bridesmaids. The subtle contrast of the silver fabric and the yellow flower is just lovely.

Have to buy the dresses first though before I can decide if they'll go.

Available from Eclu on Etsy.

Amy Atlas event planner

I love all these fun displays from Amy Atlas' website and blog. I've been admiring these oversized balloons for a while now! And all white always appeals to me.

A few more to enjoy below. I'm such a kid at heart! I mean, what adult eats cotton candy!?!

Brooklyn Pop-Up Review

Here's Nora admiring a lovely Amsale wedding gown in the Brooklyn Pop-Up store front. They are had a lovely little hanging flower display in the window, shown below.

While it was a relatively small store to head all the way out to Williamsburg for, we did get free manicures and got to look at a few fun displays. The Wedding Library organized much of it, and I'll definitely be heading over to their main four-story location on the Upper East Side -- four stories of wedding goodness! Can't wait!

Birdseed cones

So I'm on the lookout for DIY packaging for the birdseed shower we have planned for when we make our grand exit. More ideas to come for this one, but I'm loving the idea of cones with some great paper, paper customized by yours truly too!

Just Married!!!

I love the classic, old-school nature of the whole "Just Married" thing on the back of the car!

While the flowers are certainly classy, I still love the whole tin can thing too. And ribbons and toulle! Plus that classic cursive Just Married sign!

I'm so excited, I can't wait!!!

The perfect invite

I love the contrasting patterns and the use of color. Despite the patterns, the softness of the colors lends a certain subtlety.

Invitations, stamps, and more available from Paperwink.
(Great business name by the way!)

Tissue paper banners

I like the old school feel of these tissue paper banners. Might be a bit much with everything else I have planned for the wedding, but it could be a simple option for a rehearsal dinner if we have one...

I might have to do them myself, but for brides overwhelmed with all the details, they are available from AyMujer on Etsy.

Ribbon altar

I keep seeing ribbons hanging from trees on wedding sites and am really drawn to it. See bottom left above.

At first I couldn't quite conceive of how I would incorporate them with all the other ideas I have, but now I'm thinking I could use them to tie the cloth on this altar we're planning, and just leave very long trailing ends of the ribbon flowing.

As for the horses and hay stacks above, we may be getting married in Texas, but we won't be going that far!
