Deconstructed Pearl Necklace

Love this pearl necklace featured on Snippet & Ink.

The bride actually purchased a strand of pearls from Target, but then took them apart and restrung them with silver pearls and crystals added in.

Striped Bouquet Ribbon

I may have mentioned I'll be doing our bouquets for the wedding. I'm particularly taken with the striped ribbon shown on this bouquet here. Not sure if it'll go with my dress however.

If I decide to do the stripes, I'd probably do yellow and white or gray and white.

I think I'll see how they look together once I actually have my dress in hand and I can see the ribbon alongside the dress...

Figuring out our wedding invites

I had an idea for our invites, but when I went to make a model this weekend, it didn't turn out at all like I had hoped. I'm not giving up just yet, but I am also keeping my mind open to other ideas.

It would be unique to make the invitations more program like. I'm inspired by these...

Birdseed cones

So I'm on the lookout for DIY packaging for the birdseed shower we have planned for when we make our grand exit. More ideas to come for this one, but I'm loving the idea of cones with some great paper, paper customized by yours truly too!

Floating balloon canopy

I just came across this balloon canopy on Cup of Jo. It was originally created by Gustafson Porter as an installation for the Venice Architectural Biennale. However, I think it'll be perfect in my sister's yard! Perhaps as a canopy over the dining tables?

We might add a little invisible fishing line to hold it down though (just in case!)

I think this is that wow thing we've been looking for!

UPDATE:
The balloon canopy turned out beautifully! I've added a photo below. Still waiting on the others from the photographer.

It definitely took a practice session to figure it out. We had to get a lighter weight fabric (organza), bigger 17" balloons and something called Hi-Float to make it work. But it did! It was the big grand entrance at the end of the luminary-lined driveway!

Cute cute cute cake displays!

Love this adorable set of cakes on display.

I may just want to copy this idea. It's the color that really sets the tone.
How's about a white milk glass cake stand too? Wonder if those white ones above are milk glass?

Wedding Invite Inspiration

Our wedding invites will be DIY. This note card here is a big inspiration for what I'm planning! Plus a few changed details...

It's all in the details

This is such a great yet easy design for a wedding cake. If we go the DIY route...

I haven't ruled out DIY Junior's cheesecakes yet either however.

Block print wedding invitation

I've talked a lot about wanting custom wedding invitations. It's one of the few areas where I would want to spend money. And yet, given my background in art and design, it also feels like an area where I should go DIY.

I originally had my heart set on letterpress, one thing I can't quite DIY all by my lonesome; however, once I thought about doing block prints instead, everything clicked into place.

How perfect to have original artwork for the invitations! And block prints I can totally do myself.

I've shown a few different block prints here as inspiration!

Of course this last one would have to be two birdies. Love the red breast (heart).

Beaded Corsage

This corsage really stands out to me because of the base. It's wrapped in a silver cord with silver beads.

Originally, before I saw a close up on Emily K's Etsy store, I thought it was lace, which would be another interesting option.

This makes me think I might want to try a subtle beaded base on the corsages and boutonnieres for our wedding party-- since i'll be making the arrangements myself anyhow.

Rock candy favors

I love the idea of making either favors or some type of decor from rock candy.

Are those handwritten?

Although I'm going to give calligraphy a shot for my wedding invites, I also like this idea from Design*Sponge for a custom look without as much painstaking effort.

The trick is to print the addresses to your envelopes in a dark, handwritten font, and then trace over them in a white marker. I think a metallic might also look nice.

Feather Ban-do's

Does anyone out there know where I can get feathers like these (but in white) for a diy hair pin? I'll be adding in a rhinestone/pearl pin and probably some type of netting to create a birdcage veil.

I actually haven't had any luck finding the netting either.

Etsy's handmade wedding series

I've just discovered that Etsy has a series of posts on handmade wedding ideas. The post that really grabbed me was a piece on hair accessories. I love the pearl pin in her hair above -- plus it would be easy enough to make!

it's all in the details

I love the hand-stitched binding on these programs above. It's the perfect DIY wedding project for me.

The Boston skyline invites (WITH the Citgo sign!) and all the other yellow-themed touches have definitely got me inspired for my own yummy yellow wedding.
